One district sets the national price
Roughly 85% of India's strawberry comes from the Mahabaleshwar–Panchgani belt. There is no second supply region large enough to smooth a bad week, so weather in Satara is a national price event.
Market
Strawberry is the most volatile fruit price in the Indian basket, and the reasons are structural rather than mysterious. Here is what moves it, and when.

Fresh Indian fruit runs November to March. Outside it, what is on the shelf is imported, frozen or pulp — and priced on a completely different basis.
The gap between Class I and processing grade is severalfold, not marginal. A grower's realisation is set far more by what share of the crop makes the top grade than by how many tonnes came off the field.
Fruit that was not cooled quickly loses a grade in transit. Each intermediary prices that risk into their margin, which is why the farmgate-to-retail spread is so wide compared with a hardier crop.
Season
Procurement and price both follow this curve. Plan around the peak rather than the shoulders.
No rate table
This is not an omission on our part, and it is worth explaining because everyone looking for a strawberry rate eventually runs into it.
India’s official price feed is Agmarknet, which publishes daily minimum, maximum and modal rates from regulated APMC markets and is available as an open API. Strawberry does not appear in it. We queried the live feed while building this page: over eleven thousand records that day, 269 of them from Maharashtra, and not one for strawberry under any spelling.
The reason is structural. Agmarknet covers regulated mandis, and most of this crop never passes through one. It moves from the belt through agents, private trade and direct sale, on a five-month window, from a base of under 27,000 tonnes nationally. There is no regulated auction generating a public number to report.
What fills the gap online is seller listings and scraped aggregators — asking prices rather than cleared trades, unattributable and frequently stale. Republishing those as “today’s rate” would put a number on this page that nobody could stand behind, which is the one thing this site does not do.
So instead of a table: ask us for a live quote. We work across India’s growing regions and price against what is actually moving that week, for your grade and your destination. That is a real number, dated, and answerable — which a scraped average never is.
